We are launching a new rating system to try and help our readership discern high-quality sex products from scams. The issue we are facing is that the world of sex toys (including male enhancement items), eBooks and generally speaking sex related products is very wide, and it’s not easy to find a system that can ensure the comparison is fair. The following is the best rating system we could come up with, and if you have any suggestion how this can be improved, please send me an email from the contact page. From now on, we will score out of 100 as follow:
Product Quality – 15 Points
When talking sex toys quality essentially refers to materials, apparent solidity of the item (I say apparent because you never know how the toys will perform in the long term) and first-time experience with it, including comfort, pleasure and sensations.
High quality materials, comfortable, steady appearance and generally speaking incredible sensations.
Average materials, all-right comfort, nothing too special, but nothing too bad either.
Pretty low quality materials, feeling like it can fall apart anytime soon. When referring to eBooks instead the quality refers to the actual usefulness of the information within and includes the way the information is presented and its readability.
Outstanding information, easy to read and follow, motivational and inspiring.
A good read with useful information.
Stuff you can easily find for free online. Low readability and usefulness.
Ease of Use – 15 Points
For sex toys this is pretty straightforward. Ease of Use includes how long it took us to get it on going, user manual readability and generally speaking how easy it was for us to pass from opening the box to using it.
Super intuitive and easy to use or well-written instructions including video-instructions. It was on and going in less than 10 minutes.
Ok instructions and ease of use. It took about 10-30 minutes to understand what to do.
Worse than IKEA. For digital products instead (sex related eBooks and audiobooks), the Ease of Use score refers to how easy the eBooks makes it to actually put its content into use in real life.
The information shows incredibly easy ways to do something apparently complicated. Smart and eye-opening instructions.
Helpful instructions clearly explained.
Unpractical instructions.
Content Amount – 15 Points
For sex toys reviews we are talking here about additional bonuses, gifts or other nice things we found in our package. Sometimes this can simply be a sample of lube, or a portable case. The minimum score for getting just exactly the item you ordered is 10.
The product comes with bonuses and all sort of accessories that complete the service and add a smile on our faces. This might simply include a nice packaging or samples.
There is nothing but the plain item in carton box.
That’s a scam. No item. Get your money back asap! When referring to digital products like eBooks or audio programs, the Amount of Content score basically is the number of bonuses that come with the main product.
More than 3 bonuses (video and audio included)
1-3 bonuses
Nothing else but the main eBook.
Value for Money – 15 Points
While we are trying to come up with a mathematical formula that defines “Value for Money” at the moment it will be based on our guts. If we feel like what you are getting is a good value for money or a rip off. This is true for both physical and digital items. When calculating the Value for Money score we take into account Product Quality and Content Amount together with the price.
You get a lot for your money. A lot can be in terms of quality (unique, powerful, prestigious items), quantity or both.
You get what you pay for.
You get low quality, mediocre items for the price or you get very good items but pay them way above what they are worth.
Uniqueness – 15 Points
Nowadays this is one of the hardest to score, with all manufacturers copying each other and just a few trying the risky field of innovation. Keep in mind that we do reward companies that started a trend even if they have been subsequently copied, like Fleshlight for example. The situation is even worse for eBooks and digital products. It’s really rare to find “exclusive” information in an eBook in a time where everything can be found online, for free.
Very unique product, trend setter, exclusive experience.
The product is not unique, but it still belongs to an elite of rare high quality items.
Some regurgitated stuff you can easily get anywhere for free or for cheap.
Discreet Delivery – 10 Points
I have been thinking whether we should score for Discreet Delivery or not. So far we have always received toys in anonymous packages, always. So what’s the point of scoring it? Well, you never know. I know that discreet delivery is something very important for most of our readers, so even though it will simply be there to reassure you, that’s enough for me to include it. For eBooks and digital products, the Discreet Delivery score refers to how the transaction shows on your bank account, if it shows something like: “Anal Orgasm eBook” or a nicer “XYZ LLC”.
The box is anonymous, it doesn’t mention anywhere you bought a sex toy, there are no images of the toy and no detailed information about its content. For digital product, your bank account shows an unsuspectable name, like a company name.
Box states the content of the package or it has pictures on top.
Wow Factor – 10 Points
Yes, some of us still like to be “wowed” sometimes. The Wow Factor score refers to that first feeling as soon as we open the packaging and/or as soon as we try the product.
The first thing that passes in our mind is: “Wow, this is cool!” or “Wow, this is awesome” or just “Wow”. This doesn’t need to be referred to the first impression, but it can even refer to the first try with the product, the vibe we get from it or even just the overall experience with it.
Good vibe, good experience but not too Wowing. It might even be because we have seen so many products that after a while it becomes hard to be “Wowed”.
Other Score – 5 Points
This other score refers to some other features, good points the item have and that we haven’t included in our rating criteria. For example one item might be very easy to clean and that’s an additional bonus. That’s it for now, if you have any questions about this rating system or any idea to improve it, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us and let us know what you think.
