So you’ve heard about the (seemingly) miraculous benefits of jelqing and you want to know whether there’s any truth behind all the claims.
Well, you’re in luck!
Today, we’re tackling a topic surrounded by a whole heck of a lot of controversy: jelqing, a technique that many have touted as a way to increase the size, length, and girth of your penis.
But before you attempt to start jelqing your penis, I need to clear up some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding this age-old practice.
So sit back, relax, and get ready to learn why jelqing might not be the magic bullet you thought it was.

What is Jelqing?
At its most basic, jelqing is simply a penis exercise that involves massaging and stretching the tissues of one’s penis to increase its length and girth over time.
Here’s a brief explanation of how to jelq:
- Warm-up: Before starting, it’s important to warm up your penis with a hot towel or a warm shower. This helps increase blood flow to your penile tissues and can prevent injury.
- Lubricate: Applying a small amount of water-based lubricant makes it easier to slide your hand up and down as you massage and stretch your penis.
- Grip: Form a circle around the base of your penis using your thumb and forefinger
- Stroke: When you’re ready, slowly start moving your index finger and thumb towards the glans of your penis, while applying firm but gentle pressure. The idea is to be squeezing hard enough to force blood toward the tip of your penis.
- Repeat: Next, you simply repeat this process for anywhere between 100 to 200 jelqs per session.
- Cool down: Once finished, use a cool towel or ice pack to help reduce any swelling or inflammation that may occur.
Now, it’s important to note that jelqing should not be attempted whatsoever, in my opinion.
Even when using a proper technique, there are many risks involved, both physically and psychologically, and the risk is not worth the reward.
TL;DR
- There is no scientific evidence that jelqing works. Besides surgery, only penis extenders have some evidence of working.
The origins of jelqing
Jelqing is believed to have originated as part of Ancient Arabic cultures in the Middle East.
It’s believed that jelqing was performed somewhat as a rite of passage for young men passing into adulthood and that it was simply used to promote penile growth and improve their sexual prowess.
Similarly, in some African cultures, jelqing has been used as a way to increase virility and sexual performance.
But sadly, all these cultures and their generations were just wasting their time.
Whether jelqing originated as an ancient Arabic or African practice is unclear.
But most sources believe that the practice has gained popularity due to the internet, and the fact that misinformation can easily become more believable than the truth, which is, after all, why you’re reading this article in the first place.
What Jelqing Claims To Accomplish
If you’re a dude, you’ve probably wondered whether the size of your penis was small, average, or large?
And if so, you’re just like millions of other men who wondered about average penis size, turned to the internet, and came across jelqing as a “safe, and effective” way to increase size.
Jelqing claims that it can help men achieve larger penises due to the cellular response caused by stretching and massaging the tissues of the penis.
Some of the other purported benefits of jelqing include:
- Bigger penis size: Jelqing is said to be a technique that can increase both the length and girth of one’s penis. While there is limited scientific evidence to support this claim, many individuals claim to have experienced size increases by using this technique.
- Improved blood flow: By manually stimulating the penis, jelqing is believed to increase and improve blood flow to the area. The idea is that this can potentially improve the quality of your hard-ons and your overall sexual function.
- Enhanced sexual pleasure: Some people claim that jelqing can improve the sensitivity of the penis, leading to increased sexual pleasure. Again, there’s not much science behind this, but better blood flow could mean better penile health and increased sensitivity.
- Improved self-esteem: Vulnerable men are somehow tricked into believing that jelqing will improve their self-confidence and self-esteem, which is very far from the truth.
With all these claims, it’s easy to see why so many men are interested in this practice, but that doesn’t mean jelqing is the be-all and end-all of penis size.
So is there any evidence to support any of these claims?
Does jelqing actually work to increase penis size? And why?
The purported mechanism behind jelqing’s ability to increase penis size is based on the idea that it promotes blood flow to the penis.
In turn, this increased blood flow leads to a cellular response that leads to cell division and tissue growth.
This expansion is believed to increase girth size and length, as well as improve overall sexual function, leading to stronger and harder erections.
All that said, I’ve found no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of jelqing in increasing penis size.
While some studies have suggested that manual stretching exercises may lead to small increases in penis length, the evidence is not strong enough to make a definitive conclusion.
Is there any scientific proof supporting the penis enlarging technique called jelqing?
From my research, I cannot find any scientific evidence to support the idea that jelqing will help you increase penis size.
I did find one study that claimed some men have been able to increase penis length by wearing a traction device, which essentially stretches the penis in a way similar to jelqing.
In my opinion, this does suggest that jelqing isn’t completely outlandish.
However, I also found another similar study that showed traction devices are effective at treating penile deformities, but not at increasing size.
And yet another study showed that traction devices do not have an impact on thickness or girth, but also states that more studies are needed.
Therefore, although stretching your penis might lead to some gains, the results of my research regarding the effectiveness of jelqing are largely inconclusive.
Is Jelqing Really Safe?
Yes, as long as you’re gentle, massaging and stretching your penis is safe and isn’t going to cause you any serious damage.
In fact, massaging your penis is a great way to relax and relieve stress. But that’s a male masturbation technique, not jelqing.
That said, if you’re jelqing aggressively or stretching your penis obsessively, there is an increased likelihood that you’ll injure yourself and potentially cause irreversible nerve damage to the tissues of your penis.
So while jelqing may not be overly dangerous, I still do not recommend that you try it.
Let’s take a look at why!
10 Reasons Why You Should NOT Try Jelqing
Depending on where you look online, the safety of this technique is a matter of debate.
While countless sources and websites claim that jelqing is a safe and effective method for increasing penis size, other sources state that there is a very serious and real risk of injury.
Just a few of the potential risks and reasons to avoid jelqing include:
Pain and discomfort
Performing the jelqing technique aggressively or for too long can cause pain, discomfort, and soreness in the penis. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my privates involved in any type of pain or discomfort.
Nerve damage
Jelqing can potentially cause nerve damage to the tissues of the penis, leading to decreased sensitivity and even numbness. And that’s something nobody wants their junk to experience. Your penis is supposed to be part of your feel-good region, rather than being an area that doesn’t feel anything at all.
Reduced sexual function
Performing the jelqing technique incorrectly can potentially cause issues with achieving a hard-on and other male sexual functions. Ideally, I think it’s safe to say that we’d all prefer our privates to function better, if anything, not worse.
Penile injury
Jelqing can potentially cause injury to the penis, including bruising, bleeding, or even penile fracture. I don’t think I need to explain this in any more detail. It just sounds terrible, doesn’t it?
Low self-esteem
For those who fall into the belief that they need to jelq because they have a small penis, jelqing can lead to low self-esteem and reduced self-confidence. You should know that your penis is beautiful in its own way, no matter what it looks like. Be proud of your little guy!
Body dysmorphia
Body dysmorphic disorder, also known as BDD, causes individuals to perceive minor or nonexistent flaws in their physical appearance, such as penis size, that are not noticeable to others or are very minor.
Size doesn’t matter
This one is probably the biggest myth of them all. The truth is, penis size is irrelevant when it comes to sexual pleasure, dating and satisfaction. In fact, most women don’t even care about the size of your penis, as long as you’ve got one! Instead, I suggest you focus on technique and communication, rather than being preoccupied with your size.
Bigger isn’t always better
Another common misconception is that bigger is always better. But in reality, a penis that is too large can actually be uncomfortable or even painful for some partners. So, don’t worry if you’re not packing a porn star-sized package.
You can’t permanently increase your penis size
Sorry guys, but this one is a myth, too. Despite what some jelqing enthusiasts might tell you, there is no proven way to permanently increase your penis size. Using penis extenders is documented as being the only way to increase penis size, but studies surrounding its effectiveness are very limited. So, just save your time and money and skip the miracle tricks and pills.
There is no scientific proof that jelqing is effective
Despite the countless websites I’ve come across while researching for this article, I’ve been entirely unable to find any scientific studies that indicate jelqing to be an effective method for increasing penis size.
What Precautions Can You Take To Minimize Side Effects?
Once again, I do not think you should try jelqing. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about the internet it’s that most of you probably won’t listen to my advice.
So, if you do decide to try jelqing your way to a bigger penis, I want you to know how to do it safely.
First of all, it’s important to be gentle and to take your time. You don’t want to be rough or overly aggressive as this will increase the likelihood that you’ll hurt yourself.
Here are a few other tips to keep in mind:
- Warm up before jelqing: Your penis is delicate, which is why it’s best to warm up before attempting to jelq. Cold skin is easier to injure, so take some time to warm up both your hands and your penis before starting your jelqing session.
- Use lube: In my opinion, anything to do with my penis is better with lube! Using a good-quality water-based lubricant will help reduce friction and minimize the risk of skin irritation or injury while you jelq.
- Start slow and steady: There’s no need to jelq at a million miles an hour. In fact, being gentle and taking your time, all while using the proper technique is the best way to reduce your chances of hurting yourself. Start with a gentle, low-pressure grip and gradually increase the pressure as your body becomes accustomed to the sensation.
- Take a break: Just like a marathon runner needs to take breaks during a race, you need to take breaks during your jelqing session. Give your penis a rest and allow blood flow to return to normal.
- Don’t overdo it: Going at it too aggressively isn’t any good, but jelqing too often isn’t any better. That’s why I recommend limiting your jelqing sessions to once per day, and always stop jelqing and take a break if you experience any pain.
In summary, there is a very real possibility of hurting yourself while jelqing if you’re not careful.
So take it easy, be gentle, and listen to your body.
You don’t want to end up with a sore and injured penis, do you?
How Long Does It Take To See Results From Jelqing?
Like many things in life, jelqing is not an overnight miracle, and it may take weeks, months, or even years to see any real results.
In fact, there’s no scientific evidence that jelqing will work no matter how long you do it.
Additionally, there are likely many factors that will impact how long it takes you to see results from jelqing, including your age, body type, penis size, the intensity of your jelqing sessions, and your overall health.
That said, it’s also important to know when to stop.
At what point should you discontinue jelqing and seek out other options?
If you ever experience any pain, discomfort, or any unusual side effects like numbness or discoloration on your penis, it’s time to take a break from jelqing.
Similarly, if you’ve been jelqing for months on end and still haven’t seen any noticeable results, it might be time to reassess your approach and consider other methods for penis enlargement or sexual enhancement.
For instance, using a penis extender is the only method that I’ve come across that is actually backed by science in proving that it can help men achieve a larger penis.
So just remember that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to male enhancement, and what works for one person may not work for another.
If you’re not seeing the results you want from jelqing, don’t be afraid to try other options or seek the advice of a healthcare provider.
And always, prioritize your well-being and safety when it comes to your sexual health!
Final Verdict – Jelqing, Is It Fact Or Fiction?
99% Fiction.
From what I’ve found, jelqing isn’t likely to help you increase the size of your peen.
Despite the many claims that this is a miraculous method for increasing penile length and girth, I’ve found no scientific evidence to suggest they’re factual.
Therefore, my opinion is that jelqing is total BS, and you shouldn’t waste your time trying to jelq your way to a bigger penis.
